Daniel BellDaniel Bell

Daniel Bell is Henry Ford II Professor Emeritus of the Social Sciences at Harvard University and scholar in residence of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a former professor of sociology at Columbia University. Bell was co-founder of The Public InterestMagazine, former member of the editorial board of Fortune, and former editor of The New Leader.

He was a member of the President's Commission on Technology between 1964 and 1966 and of the President's Commission on a National Agenda for the 1980s. An influential sociologist and social theorist, Bell authored numerous books, including The End of Ideology and The Cultural Contradictions of Capitalism, both of which appeared on the Times Literary Supplement's list of the 100 most important books of the second half of the twentieth century.
